Bugs in Bali

Another day of walking around the hotel trying to find some interesting insects. Found this little guy on a leaf, managed to get this photo before he flew off. Unfortunately didn’t find anything else to photograph. I am grateful to have found one insect to photograph though 🙂

Photos in Bali

Managed to find some other critters to photograph today. I couldn’t find out what kind of insect this is, so if anyone has any idea please let me know.

Ants in Bali

I’ve been finding it difficult to find things to photograph, living at the hotel has its disadvantages. The problem is that they fumigate for mosquitos which obviously kills most bugs. So the most interesting things I see are ants and flies. Don’t get me wrong they are still very interesting, but it would be nice to find more interesting insects. Will definitely need to find a different location.

Found these ants on the restaurant table, looked online to do some research on what kinds of ants they are. I think they are weaver ants, but not sure. Does anyone know if I am correct?

Photos are a little grainy, not quite sure why, and also these ants don’t stop moving so I am quite surprised I managed to get these two photos.

And….

I have started a facebook page so if you’d like to go and have a look.

Penjor and Gebogan Competition in Bali

The Penjor and Gebogan Competition held in Kuta. There are about 30 teams each representing a hotel from the area. The team making the Penjor have about 4 hours to complete it. Each part is made by hand and then placed on a long bamboo pole.

The Gebogan is an arrangement of fruit and flowers and other food such as cake or eggs. They are beautifully made.
